Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in the developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Room to Read started its operations in Laos since 2005 and we have three main field offices in Oudomxay, Champasack and Savannakhet Province. Currently, we are looking for applicants who are committed, enthusiastic and having qualification and related experiences to fill in the following positions:

Literacy Program Officers (LPOs) (Base in Champasack Province - 2 positions)

Position Overview:

The Literacy Program Officer (LPO) leads the planning and execution for all work related to implementing Room to Read’s Literacy Program at the field level. The LPO oversees the coordination of, and leads the implementation of Literacy Program activities including, training, monitoring and reporting for a set of schools. The LPO serves as the main point of contact for the school and local government officials and coordinates the work of other Room to Read staff in his/her region. This position will involve frequent travel to project sites, and close coordination with local partners, thus requiring strong communication and coordination skills. The LPO reports to the Field Manager, and manages a set of Literacy Facilitators. In addition, the LPO may also manage a Literacy Program Assistant. This position will involve frequent travel to field locations as well as regular interaction with education officials, school administrators, community members, teachers and students. The ideal candidate will be based near the project locations.

Qualifications & Requirement:

  • University degree in Education, Social development, or other related field 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and teacher training at the primary stage 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related work experience 
  • Experience developing and delivering teacher trainings
  • Working knowledge and understanding of project management methodology and software
  • Strong planning, budgetary, supervising, and project implementation skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with schools and communities
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player 
  • Proven ability to build the capacity of others to achieve desired outcomes  

Compensation & Benefit

Gross Salary is between 7 – 8 Million LAK + 1.2 Million LAK for non-residential employee
